The department “Uzbek language” was established in 1934-1937, Bakhrom Haydari took part in the creation of the department. On October 21, 1989, the Law “On the State Language” was adopted, according to which the Uzbek language was given the status of the state language. Based on the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in universities where there was no department of the Uzbek language, it was decided to open such departments. In our institute in December 1989, the department "Uzbek language" was opened. From 1989 to 1994 the department was headed by Assoc. H.S. Kudratillaev, from 1994 to 1996 - A.N. Tursunov, from 1996 to September 16, 2004 - associate professor K.N. Rakhimova. During these periods, professors worked at the department: G. Abdurakhmanov, E.A. Begmatov, N.A. Rakhmonov, associate professors: H.A. Khakimova, K.N. Rakhimova, Acting Assoc. Yu.I. Kurbanova, senior lecturers: Z.O. Kholmedova, E.K. Yusupov, S.I. Kobilova, assistants: U.E. Usmonov, R.T.

• Since 1989, in groups with the Russian language of instruction, such disciplines as the Uzbek language have been taught, from 1994-1995 - Paperwork in the Uzbek language, from 1996-1997 - Uzbek language and literature, from 1997 to 2008 - "Uzbek alphabet based on the Latin alphabet" in the 4th year.
• In 1934, the discipline "Russian language" became part of the department "Languages". In 1968, the department "Russian language" was opened.
• Until 1969, senior teachers Shaverova N.A., Buribekov A.A., Kobilov K.S. worked as heads of the department. From 1969 to 2014, the department was headed by prof. M.A. Batirova.
• Until 1978, the department worked with Uzbek students, foreign students, interns and graduate students. The number of teachers reached 50 people. Experienced teachers worked with foreign students and graduate students: R.A. Shvets, E.Z. Kochina, R.T. Turganova, G.R., associate professors: Z.D.Eshmetova, H.G. Babajanova, prof. M.A. Batyrova and others. In addition, senior lecturer Khasankhodzhaeva G.R. worked as a teacher in Algiers for two years; in 1979 Professor M.A. Batyrova taught short courses in Russian at the University of London, England.
• In 1977-1978, 2 separate departments of the Russian language were created for the preparatory and basic faculties. Since the foundation of the department, more than 70 manuals and articles have been published. A number of teaching aids, dictionaries, curricula have been developed.
• From 1996 to 2004 the following teachers worked at the department: prof. Batyrova M.A., аssoc. Sh.K.Ganiev, senior lecturers: N.V.Markhlevskaya, S.A.Rakhimova, S.P.Shapova, G.F.Pulatova, I.V.Allenova, M.E. Arakeliants, G.S. Samandarova, teacher U.T. Tasheva.
• The department "Foreign language" was separated into an independent department in 1945. From 1945 to 1950, the department was headed by E.Kh. Gaevskaya and candidate of philological sciences N.M. Soloviev. From 1950 to 1983, the department was headed by associate professor Vatin I. Ya., from 1983-1992 - Ziyadullaeva D. M. M. M. Jamolova. From 1997 to 1999 - senior lecturers Abdulkasimova S.N. and Yusubov M.S.

The department "Uzbek language and foreign languages" was established on September 16, 2004 on the basis of 3 language departments (Russian language, Uzbek language, foreign language). The head of the department was Prof. M.A. Batyrov. Since the foundation of the department, more than 10 professors and teachers, as well as more than 10 assistants, have worked in its team. The teachers of the department conducted research work on the topic "Teaching students the culture of speech and the culture of behavior in society." The teachers of the department took an active part in conferences, symposiums and seminars held at the international and national levels. The department worked in cooperation with the Tashkent Financial Institute, UzSUWL and the National University. In 2014, the department "Uzbek language and foreign languages" was divided into two departments: "Foreign languages" and "Uzbek language and foreign languages". The head of the department "Uzbek language and foreign languages" was appointed senior lecturer I.V. Allenova. From April 2015 to the present, the department is headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Assoc. F.B.Kilicheva. Since 2016, the name of the department "Uzbek language and foreign languages" has been changed to the department "Languages", the department includes teachers of Russian and Uzbek languages. Since 2021, the name of the department has changed. It became known as "Uzbek language and literature". The department, under the leadership of Associate Professor F.B. Kilicheva, employs prof. Batyrova M.A., senior teachers: I.V. Allenova, E.K. Yusupov, U.T. Tasheva, teachers: R.T. Kodirova, M.A. Koshnazarova, V.A. Seitenova, G.K.Musaeva. Teachers of the department take an active part in educational, spiritual and educational work. Employees of the department publish educational and methodological manuals, monographs on the subjects taught at the department, use them in the educational process, take part in conferences and seminars held at the international and national levels.
